Hatteras Yachts
Hatteras Yachts , the legendary American yacht
manufacturer based on the shores of North Carolina, was the early vision of Willis
Slane. Faced with a fishing environment off Cape Hatteras, where winds can blow
as fiercely as hurricanes, Slane envisioned building a boat that would be powerful
enough to conquer the oceans, but most importantly, would be a great sport fishing
boat – big enough to handle a group of avid fishermen and comfortable enough for
family back at the dock. His foresight turned into reality when his first sports
fishing yacht, the 41ft GRP-hulled “Knit Wits” was introduced in 1960.
The 95-acre waterfront Hatteras Yachts shipyard in New Bern, North Carolina now
turns out sport fishing convertible and motoryachts with a consistency that is not
often associated with large scale production. With a motor yacht series ranging
from 64' to 100 feet in length, and a sport fishing range from 50' to 90 feet, Hatteras
yachts continue to set the standard for ruggedness and high performance in all waters.
Hatteras builds all its boats in solid GRP below the waterline and topside ‘step-outs’
to reduce spray while increasing interior space.
Half a century of quality design and construction has built up the Hatteras Yachts
reputation and won it countless tournament and industry awards. But don’t let the
